GENERAL INFORMATION AND SHOW RULES
ENTRY FEES: First class for which a dog is entered is $28.00, except Puppy Class which is $18.00. (This first entry includes the $0.50 AKC Recording Fee, and $3.00 AKC Event service fee). Each additional entry of the same dog is $18.00. Brace and Team Classes are $18.00 for the unit.
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS 6 PM, WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 2009, after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled, altered or substituted, except as provided for in Chapter 14, Section 6, of the Dog Show Rules.
MAIL ALL ENTRIES WITH FEES to Beth McKinney, Show Secretary, 909 - 208th Ave NE, Sammamish, WA 98074. Acknowledgment of entries will be made as soon as possible after entries have closed. Should such acknowledgment not be received by a reasonable time, please notify the Show Secretary at the above address, or telephone (425) 868-2829.
A RECORDING FEE of $0.50, and an Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club show, obedience trial or tracking test. This recording fee is to be collected by the show-giving club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in a show, the Event/Recording fee is to be collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2).
MAKE ALL CHECKS AND MONEY ORDERS payable to Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound, Inc. (IWCPS).
RETURNED CHECKS DO NOT CONSTITUTE A VALID ENTRY FEE. The club will add a collection fee of $25.00 to each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitor may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check MUST BE MADE GOOD by CASH OR MONEY ORDER BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring.

ENTRIES NOT ON OFFICIAL AKC ENTRY FORMS AND PHOTOCOPIES OF ENTRY FORMS WITHOUT THE AGREEMENT AND RULES ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ERRORS on entry forms, regardless of who shall make such errors.
NO ENTRY SHALL BE MADE and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance.
NO DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED in the Show Area except those regularly entered in the show.
DOGS NEED TO BE AT THE SHOW only at the scheduled time of judging and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required for further judging.
ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fees will be made.
THE IRISH WOLFHOUND CLUB OF PUGET SOUND, INC. may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or any other cause, and no one shall have any recourse or claim against the show-giving club or any official thereof.
CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN at Auburn City Park. In accordance with Park Rules, violators will be asked to cease or leave. In the event an entrant leaves, no refund of entry fee will be made.
DO NOT LEAVE ANY DOGS IN CLOSED VEHICLES. The Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound (IWCPS) reservesazsw c the right to remove any animal in distress from a parked vehicle or crate and all persons attending this show hereby waive any claim for damages against IWCPS or its members for such removal.
CRATE IDENTIFICATION TAGS. The welfare and safety of dogs is a critical issue at all events. The need for notification of owners is sometimes necessary, and critical time can be lost if this information is not readily available. Please place a tag on EACH crate which contains the dog’s call name, owner’s name and/or name of responsible person at show, phone numbers and any special comments or conditions.

NOTE: The Twelve to Eighteen Month Class is an adult class. You must pay adult fee.
Bred-by-Exhibitor Class eligibility: ·All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. To exhibit in this class, family members must be a breeder and owner of record.
Non-Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries
Veteran Dogs, Veteran Bitches - for dogs or bitches 6 years of age or older. Winners of these classes are eligible to compete for Best of Breed. Spayed and neutered animals may compete in Veterans Classes.
BEST OF BREED COMPETITION
Non-Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries
Stud Dog Class - For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud Dog must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with his Get. All Get presented with Stud Dog must be entered in a regular class and shown at this show. Owner of the Stud Dog does not need to be the owner of the Get. Get only to be judged, based on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if he has a condition that would require his disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the Standard for his breed.
Brood Bitch Class - Same as Stud Dog Class, except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog, Produce for Get, and her for his. As the judge's decision in the Stud Dog and Brood Bitch Classes is based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged First in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class.
Brace Class for two dogs with identical ownership. The dogs comprising a Brace must be named at time of entry. In making entries for Brace Class only, full particulars must be given for each dog on individual regulation entry forms. If more than one Brace is entered by the identical owner, the dogs comprising EACH Brace must be designated “Brace No. 1,” “Brace No. 2,” etc.
Team Class - For four dogs with identical ownership. All rules applying to “Brace Class” apply to “Team Class”
PARADE OF VETERANS
Open to all dogs and bitches 6 years of age and older. It is not required that they compete in the Veterans Classes in order to participate in the parade. Participants may be spayed or neutered. A personalized rosette will be offered to all Parade participants.

SWEEPSTAKES

The Sweepstakes is open to all Irish Wolfhounds, who on the day of the show will be six months old, but under eighteen months of age. Entry is $18.00. Entrant must be entered in one of the Regular Classes. Entry for Sweepstakes must be made at the same time and on the same entry form as the regular class. Write Sweepstakes, and indicate the age division, in the space marked “Additional Classes” on the entry form. Champions of record are not eligible to compete in sweepstakes
Professional handlers may show only those dogs bred or owned by them.

IWCPS offers, open to all, through the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound, for competition at it’s shows only, the PUTNAM LITTLE MEMORIAL PERMANENT TROPHY, to the winner of the Best Bred By Exhibitor competition. This is a permanent trophy that will remain in the possession of the IWCPS. The winner will receive a rosette ribbon and a commemorative trophy crystal decanter offered by IWCPS.
Jacqueline Carswell offers, open to all, through the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound, for competition at it’s shows only, the Carnasserie Trophy, an Arthur Court Oval Platter for Best Veteran Dog (1st Place in regular Veteran Dog Class). For permanent possession to be won three (3) times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog. A keeper trophy crystal clock is offered by Jacqueline Carswell.
Carole Fredrickson offers, open to all, through the Irish Wolfhound Club of Puget Sound, for competition at it’s shows only, the Erincourt Trophy, a framed Irish Wolfhound Print for Best Veteran Bitch (1st Place in regular Veteran Bitch Class) in memory of Lilliput Dunmadadh Olivia. BEST BRED BY EXHIBITOR COMPETITION
IWCPS is pleased to offer a Best Bred By Exhibitor competition at our specialty in remembrance of Putnam Little. The winners of the Bred by Exhibitor Dog and Bitch classes will compete for this prestigious award following the conclusion of judging. If the Best of Breed winner comes from one of the Bred by Exhibitor Classes, it is automatically Best Bred By Exhibitor in specialty.
The PUTNAM LITTLE MEMORIAL PERMANENT TROPHY will be presented for photographs but will remain in possession of IWCPS. A rosette and commemorative trophy crystal decanter offered by IWCPS will be awarded to the winner.
IWCPS is pleased to announce the inaugural presentation of The Irish Wolfhound Club of America Founder’s Trophy, a pewter loving cup, for the breeder of Best of Breed. This trophy honors the memory of the nine individuals who established the Irish Wolfhound Club of American in 1926: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daly, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hare-Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Francis Riggs, Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Browning-Smith and Mrs. L. O. Starbuck. This is a Challenge Trophy, for permanent possession to be won three (3) times by the same breeder, not necessarily with the same dog. A keeper trophy crystal vase will be offered by Harley and Lisa Blanchard, Legacy, and Judy Simon, Stoneybrook, in memory of Stoneybrook Reata.
AWARDS OF MERIT
At a specialty show, often times the number of quality dogs in competition far exceeds the number of top awards available. IWCPS is pleased to offer our judge a way to recognize these exceptional examples of the breed with AWARDS OF MERIT. The judge may, at his or her sole discretion, present up to two AWARDS OF MERIT at the conclusion of Best of Breed judging. BOB, BOS, WD and WB are NOT eligible for these awards. A Rosette ribbon will be awarded.

per City Ordinance.
The police do patrol the park and will require you to leave.

There will be a NEW EXHIBITOR BRIEFING offered to anyone who would like to attend approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of judging on the day of the show. No pre registration required. Meet at the boutique table.
